University of Mary Day of Service
The first and second University of Mary Days of Service successfully engaged students of the university. I was honored to be a group leader both years for two separate projects, coordinating with directors of the organizations and directing communication with members of my groups. In October of 2014, I lead of group of students ranging from Freshmen to Seniors to the Burleigh County Senior Center, assisting the elderly with various forms of technology. In 2015, I helped coordinate a group of students and faculty from the University of Mary to help clean the Dakota Zoo. In an effort to remove the millions of leaves from the walking path, we worked as a team to make the zoo safer and more presentable.
FOCUS Bible Study
The Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) community has had a tremendous impact on my life since entering college. My Junior year of college, I was invited to lead a group of women in a Bible study. This involved finding a study appropriate for women, developing a weekly guide of questions, and creating a welcoming environment. In this leadership position, I may of been the pronounced leader, but I believe I learned just as much about female leadership and the feminine heart as the other women in my study.
North Dakota Catholic High School Rome Study Pilgrimage
During the summer of 2016, my husband and I were graced with the opportunity to chaperone the Catholic High School of North Dakota Rome Study Pilgrimage. Completely volunteer, we worked to provide students with the best cultural and spiritual experience possible. This experience changed how I view the individual, myself, and the world. I learned that, even as an adult, I am not above learning or struggling. When the culture and environment change, everyone is on the same playing field.
